Attrition of the Heart

Love I will not,
I said to my heart,
For it hurts a lot,
When loved ones depart.

Why this weird decision?
  To me you may ask.
To forget the loss of a loved one,
  Tis not an easy task.

To have a trusted confidant,
  Is quite certainly a gain,
But when they become distant,
The heart is filled with pain.

Hearken to me now,
This tale I will tell,
Each sad farewell how,
My joy did dispel.

My close bro & office peer,
Called me to the balcony away,
Said the day is now near,
When he’d leave for better pay.

I was happy to have another friend,
To me she was as close as a sister,
But her time with me too came to an end,
When she moved to be with her mister.

Glad I was, believe,
For each of my friends,
But how can I not grieve,
When an old friendship ends.

“It has not ended”, to me,
That’s what they usually say,
But I know that things won’t be,
The same after that day.

The reason for leaving,
For each may be different,
But same pain am feeling,
When my heart is rent.

In faraway distant places,
Some loved ones stay,
To soon see beloved faces,
I can but only pray.

Lonely years do pass,
Before I meet them again.
Why love in excess, alas!
Why suffer this pain.

Now when new people, I meet,
I try not to befriend,
Lest once again this greet,
Turn into a mournful end.

Why should I befriend him?
Or risk her becoming too dear?
When like others before them,
They too may not linger near.

Why treat colleagues as family,
Let’s just be professional,
They might leave eventually,
Then it pains to be emotional.

The company does a few walkins,
A few outstation recruitments,
But with whom’ll I do the talkin,
How for love find I replacements?

Love I will not,
I said again to my heart,
For it hurts a lot,
When loved ones depart.

As I sat in sad silence,
Heard a gentle voice speaking,
Was a loving Father’s presence,
It was God the King.

Child, the pain in your heart,
 To Me is not unknown,
 When your loved ones depart,
I know how much you mourn.

Some loved ones stay close alway,
Some only for a season,
But trust me when this I say,
I do everything for a reason.

Blamed love, have you a lot,
For the pain of separation and loss.
Joy of friendship, have you forgot?
For which love itself, was the cause.

Ponder a bit and you’ll understand,
The beauty of love lies therein,
Brings joy as much to the giving hand,
As it does to the one receiving.

The purpose of giving you breath,
My child, this now discern,
Not to aimlessly live out on earth,
But to love others to learn

Don’t merely love, my son,
To be loved back in return,
Life’s most important lesson,
Is selfless love to learn.

Love the people around you,
You should and you must,
Else you are like unto,
A lifeless tool catching rust.

Reach out to that sad man,
You can play the clown,
Do whatever you can,
To cheer that one feeling down.

Did someone hurt you again,
Choose to soon forgive,
Pay not them back with pain,
That’s no way for My kid to live.

There might be one in plight,
Who asks you for advice,
Speak from your heart what’s right,
and not just what sounds nice.

Go wave love’s wand,
Wipe away that tear,
Hold that lonely hand,
Drive away that fear.

Think beyond your matters,
Your life and your needs,
Reach out to others,
Keep sowing love’s seeds.

If love thou will not,
Might save yourself some pain,
But living like this,
Will totally be in vain.

To love people or to not love,
I leave with you this choice,
But living with unbridled love,
Is the true way to rejoice.

Father, the decision to love not,
I’d taken with much haste,
I know, now, that love without,
My entire life would be a waste.

At times indeed, love hurts,
And causes some pain,
But for the joy that it births,
I’ll count it all as gain.

Love I will surely,
I now say from my heart,
In life entirely,
That’s the most important part.
