Problem of Plenty

I’d been dilly-dallying for a while about this newsletter. Reason? Too many options.

· “Should I write about low-code frameworks vs full-code frameworks?”

· “What about this growing trend of multiple frameworks from the same hyperscaler?”

· “Or maybe a simple article explaining a real-world application of Agentic AI?”

This was a classic case of analysis-paralysis. Finally, had an idea. I decided to pen a few words on the “problem of plenty” itself.

A lot of individuals reach out to me who want to start learning Agentic AI BUT are wrestling with abundance-led confusion.

· Should I learn LangGraph or Langflow?

· Do I need to learn MCP to build Agentic solutions?

· Should I pick a hyperscaler provided solution or an open-source one?

If you are stuck that way, then here’s some advice. Don’t worry too much about picking the “wrong” framework. The underlying principles and essential concepts are the same irrespective of which framework you select. Just pick one. Anyone. It matters less what you choose and more that you start.

If you want my recommendation, just go ahead with LangGraph. Else if you need some info before diving in, read my framework selection article

We’ve had college interns (with no prior experience of GenAI) build out Google NotebookLM lite-clones in a variety of agentic frameworks. Their code is available here. Most of them were able to learn and be fruitful within 3-4 weeks. But here’s the difference. I didn’t ask them to pick a framework. I picked one for each of them and then they focused on it. FOCUS – not FOMO!

Once you pick a framework, build something. You’ll learn more in a week of building as compared to a month of just reading or watching tutorials. Stop reading comparison posts, close those distracting browser tabs, set a goal and build. Imperfect action beats perfect inaction.

I’ll be engaged in the following pro-bono activities in the near future. Note: I’m doing this for the community and am NOT charging for my involvement. But the organizers have their own registration fees. Pls share with folks who would benefit from these.
